Chagrin Falls Schools’ former athletic director, wife killed in Florida car accident

CHAGRIN FALLS, OH –  The Chagrin Falls school district is mourning the death of their former athletic director and current director of community relations.

Lenny May and his wife, Lana, were killed in a car accident in Bradenton, Florida at around 9 p.m. Thursday evening.

The district is reporting Chagrin Falls resident Diane Kiffner also died in the crash and her husband, Paul, is in serious condition after the accident. Paul is a former Chagrin Falls school board member and volunteers coaching football.

The district posted a notice on their website Friday morning, which chronicled May’s long career with Chagrin Falls schools.

Lenny May was an esteemed English teacher, coach and athletic director at Chagrin Falls High School. He served as the English Department Chairperson and was known for his passion for teaching and working with his colleagues. Lenny also was the leader of the Tiger Times, the school newspaper. In 1987, Lenny May was recognized as the Chagrin Falls Teacher of the Year. Following his illustrious teaching and coaching career, Lenny served as the district athletic director for 12 years.

The staff of the Chagrin Falls schools was notified of May’s death Friday morning. The district is providing support and has promised to pass along funeral arrangements when they become available.
