NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio– Two women used a wheelchair to steal jewelry from the Macy’s in North Olmsted, police say.

Officers were called by loss prevention to the store in Great Northern Mall last Tuesday. According to the police report, Julia R. Bures acted as a lookout while Crystal L. White stashed the merchandise.

White, who was seated in a wheelchair, removed jewelry from the display and took off the tags, police said. She hid the items in the purse on her lap.

Police recovered $497 in gold and silver jewelry, including a bracelet valued at $100.

Bures and White were charged with petty theft. The police report said White has prior arrests for theft, drugs and assault.

The women are scheduled to appear in Rocky River Municipal Court later this month.
