COLUMBUS, Ohio– A Cleveland Division of Police recruit was arrested for drunken driving in Columbus this weekend.

Police said Deshaun Wells faces weapons charges, in addition to operating a vehicle while under the influence. He was arrested by Columbus police on Sunday.

Wells was placed on restricted duty. He will not return to the Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy in Columbus, according to Cleveland police.

In December, the first group of Cleveland police cadets left for the 16-week training course in Columbus. The city moved training because it says the state academy maintains a higher standard than the Cleveland Police Academy.
