SAN DIEGO – Back in November, cheetah Addison gave birth to a litter at the San Diego Zoo.

Addison’s last litter was 4 cubs, and according to the San Diego Zoo, that’s a large litter.

So when Addison had 6 cubs, the zoo staff was shocked.

“She seems to be quite comfortable with us interacting with the cubs,” Jillian King, a senior keeper at the Cheetah Breeding Center said. “She’s a very calm cheetah by nature, and since this isn’t her first litter, we had a relationship established with her. But we always watch her reaction and base what we do on Addison’s comfort level.”

Addison’s cubs will stay with her for a year before they possibly go to other sites to help grow the world’s cheetah population.
