BROOK PARK, Ohio– Investigators raided a Brook Park hotel as part of an investigation into drugs, prostitution and shootings on Wednesday.

The Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office, the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office and the Brook Park Police Department searched the Travelodge on Brook Park Road. Authorities posted a notice on the door saying the property and its attached bar, O’Malley’s, are closed.

“The amount of illegal activity that occurs and is permitted to occur at 16161 Brookpark Road is shocking to the conscience,” court documents said.

The prosecutor’s office said Brook Park police received 342 calls to the hotel or bar in 2014 and 315 calls in 2015.

In documents filed in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court, prosecutors listed more than a dozen specific incidents, including shootings, fights and heroin overdoses. The hotel also has a reputation for human trafficking, court documents said.

Prosecutors claimed the Travelodge’s owner knew about prostitution, even requiring Johns and prostitutes to rent rooms. A desk clerk also warned patrons if police were at the hotel, authorities said.
