High school student arrested in murder of Kent State University student

KENT, Ohio -- Police say a 17-year-old Stow High School student has been arrested in the shooting death of a Kent State University student.

Kent police Lt. Mike Lewis identified the victim as Nicholas Massa, 18, of Westlake. He was a student at Kent State.

Lewis said the 17-year-old suspect will be charged with delinquency by aggravated murder.

Police were called the Ryan Place apartments on East Main Street at about 4:15 p.m. Sunday. When they arrived, they found Massa dead inside an apartment on the third floor.

Police and the Portage County Coroner's Office were on scene throughout much of Sunday night.

Police determined there wasn't an immediate threat to the Kent State University students, and classes were not canceled on Monday.
