FALLS CHURCH, Va.– Hundreds of people reported seeing a large fireball in the sky Saturday night.

According to the American Meteor Society, more than 600 people witnessed the fireball meteor at 6:16 p.m. Most of the sightings were in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

A spotter in Akron said it was “Much bigger than any shooting star that I have seen.”

“There were light clouds on the horizon, which obscured the fireball, but it was so bright I could see it through them,” said another spotter in Cuyahoga Falls.

Pilot Mike Grossman recorded the meteor while flying over the Hudson River in New York.

The event was also captured on video in Falls Church, Virginia and Lancaster, Ohio.
