Charges filed against man accused of hitting, killing 2 pedestrians in Willoughby

WILLOUGHBY, Ohio — Charges have been filed against a 73-year-old Eastlake man accused of hitting and killing two pedestrians in Willoughby.

It happened around 6:30 p.m. Saturday on Lost Nation Road between Pelton Road and Apollo Parkway. A 50-year-old man and a 57-year-old woman were walking along the side of the road at the time when they were hit from behind by a Chevy pick-up truck.

Both were taken to the hospital and died from their injuries.

Police say Rudolph Baitt will face charges of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs and two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide in Willoughby Municipal Court Monday.
