TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo Zoo announced the birth of their newest addition, a polar bear cub.
Sixteen-year-old mom, Crystal, gave birth to the cub this past week and is caring for it inside their secluded den.
Staff is monitoring the baby, but allowing Crystal to care for the cub on her own as they would be on together in the wild.
The cub’s gender will not be determined until it grows a little more and zoo employees are able to take it out of the den.
The debut date for the cub is also unknown, but should be in the spring.
