Several fire departments in Northeast Ohio practice ice rescue drills

WINDSOR, Ohio – While the east coast battles a massive blizzard, four local fire departments took advantage of the mild weather on Saturday to practice ice rescue drills.

Hambden Fire Department, Windsor Fire Department, Orwell Fire Department and Middlefield Fire Department all worked together to practice drills in a frozen pond.

The firefighters who were being ‘rescued’ from the water wore protective suits to shield them from the water and cold temperatures.
