CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Cincinnati Zoo welcomed their first baby of 2016 on Friday as a blue penguin was born.

According to FOX 19, the penguin weighed just 46 grams at birth.

“The zoo celebrates Penguin Days during January and February, so it’s fitting that a penguin chick would be the first little one to arrive in 2016,” said Cincinnati Zoo Director Thane Maynard.

Little penguins, like Bowie, like milder temperatures so visitors will probably not see the chick until spring.

Elvis and Bowie were popular name options, as Elvis Presley and David Bowie were both born on January 8. The zoo already has a king penguin named Elvis though.
