CANTON, Ohio - Residents are concerned as three fire stations in Canton will close in the near future.

Incoming Fire Chief Thomas Garra said budget constraints are forcing the closures.

There are not enough firefighters to work at all stations.

The stations closing are located on West Tusc Street, Harmon Avenue and Vernon Avenue.

Chief Garra said that response times will be affected.

"We're gonna do the best we can to cover these areas for the residences. We can't help our manpower size the way it is right now, so we're gonna work with it the best we can," Garra said.

Chief Garra said he hopes that as the economy improves, more firefighters can be hired and the stations can reopen.
