Road remains closed after massive Cleveland water main break

CLEVELAND–  Work continues on a massive water main that ruptured Sunday morning.

Chester Avenue is closed from East 40th Street to East 55th Street. Cleveland police were out directing traffic at East 55th Street, Chester and Euclid Monday morning.

A Cleveland Water Department spokeswoman said the area is open to local traffic only.

Crews are still at the scene making repairs to the 48-inch water main. The pipe was made with concrete in 1949, according to the water department.
