BEREA, Ohio– Cleveland Browns players reacted on Monday to the news their head coach and general manger have been fired.
Many players taking the news as well as expected, while adding the constant change in management can be tough.
“It doesn’t make you happy when you have to go through another coaching change,” offensive lineman Joe Thomas said. “No one is happy and it’s never easy.”
It was announced Sunday night GM Ray Farmer and head coach Mike Pettine were let go.
Players came in on Monday to meet with owner Jimmy Haslam and start cleaning out their lockers. Some had position meetings and staff meetings as well.
Some players said Haslam tried to reassure them this morning they’re going to try and make it a positive outcome.
“We’re 3 and 13 so it’s not that surprising,” wide receiver Andrew Hawkins said. “If I only played well in three games, I would be out of here too.”
FOX 8 asked a few of the players about Sashi Brown, the new executive VP. They said they don’t know him very well, but are hoping for the best. Brown came in to talk to the players, and told them they were going to get things turned around and on the right track.
As for Johnny Manziel, players said he was in the building meeting with Haslam and Brown.
