Campaign ended: Nov. 17, 2015

Current position: Governor of Louisiana

Career: Louisiana Governor 2008 to present, U.S. House of Representatives 2005 to 2008, assistant secretary of Health and Human Services for Planning and Evaluation 2001 to 2003

Hometown: Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Family: Married to Supriya Jolly with three children

Religion: Roman Catholic

On the issues:

Economy: The Louisiana Governor wants to limit the power of the IRS and reduce the number of tax brackets from seven to three. His plan would tax CEOs rather than companies by eliminating corporate income taxes.

Education: Jindal’s education policies place high importance on parents’ choice and limited government control. He is against Common Core.

Environment: He supports the Keystone pipeline and criticizes the United States’ energy dependence. He says domestic energy production would not only lower prices, but it would create millions of jobs in our country.

Gun control/rights: As governor, Jindal has a track record of signing gun bills into law that protect gun owners.

Health care: If elected as president, Jindal would repeal Obamacare and implement his own comprehensive plan. It includes a focus on health savings accounts, incentives for wellness and guaranteed care for pre-existing conditions. He would also include pro-life protections into his health care reforms.

Immigration: Jindal says first we need to secure the border, then we need to create a path for undocumented immigrants to obtain citizenship.

National security: Jindal says we need to rebuild the U.S. armed forces and increase military spending. He has been vocal with his support of Israel and thinks we should be open to sending more ground troops to handle ISIL.

Social issues: He is against same-sex marriages.
