Rand Paul, 52, of Kentucky, is a U.S. senator, elected to the office in 2010. Paul is a doctor, who operated an ophthalmology practice for 18 years.

He went to Baylor University and Duke Medical School. He is the son of Ron Paul, who ran for president in the 1980s and in 2008 and 2012.

He married his wife, Kelley, 24 years ago, and they have three children.
