COVENTRY TWP., Ohio -- A man was found dead after an hours-long standoff in Summit County Sunday.

According to a release from the Summit County Sheriff's Office, a woman called 911 at about 3:30 p.m. to report that her husband was walking around the outside of the home with a rifle in his mouth.

When authorities arrived, the man, identified as Ryan Perkins, of New Franklin, was inside the home with his wife and daughter. He was making threats to harm himself and was also threatening law enforcement officials.

Authorities were eventually able to enter a bedroom window of the home and get the wife and daughter to a safe location. Police then tried to communicate with Perkins, but were unsuccessful.

At roughly 7:40 p.m., Perkins was found on the couch with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
