HALIFAX, Nova Scotia – A Canadian mailman who used to answer children’s letters to Santa by hand has tracked down someone who wrote to him in 1993.

Tom Hurst wrote on Facebook that a young girl named Candy wrote to him asking for Santa to bring her dad back and to make her family stop fighting.

There was no last name, return address or postmark, so Hurst could not track her down.

Hurst said he has kept the letter all these years and reads it each Christmas.

Hurst recently shared the letter on Facebook, and after it was shared many times, he finally heard from Candy.

Hurst says Candy “has turned out to be a healthy, happy soul with a great sense of humour and a wonderful outlook for the future.”

“It’s Christmas time and we should all be celebrating the meaning behind the story whether one believes it or not,” Hurst said. ” To me, that story is meant too lead us all on a path of helping each other. To standing up for the good in one another.”
