CLEVELAND - University Circle Police are investigating a robbery at the  Cleveland Museum of Natural History.

Police were called to the museum Thursday after staff members found a number of gems missing from the gem room. The theft happened sometime between Thursday afternoon and closing time.

The museum hasn't given the missing items a value yet, but they say that on their initial assessment, the gems aren't thought to be of "significant material value."

The museum says it takes any possible security breach very seriously and is working with authorities on the investigation

The museum is open, but the gem hall will remain closed until further notice.
