AVON LAKE, Ohio- Avon Lake police say a girl’s report of an attempted abduction Monday morning was “embellished.”

A 12-year-old reported she was walking to school in the area of Grove Street and Vanda Avenue when a white van pulled up. The girl told police the driver asked if she needed a ride, then got out of the van and tried to grab her arm.

According to police, the report was “inaccurate and embellished.” The department is now working with the girl’s parents on a best course of action.

Avon Lake police said they take all alleged treats against children seriously and encourage residents to report suspicious activity to 440-933-4567.
