Retired Cleveland Police Officer helps stop alleged hit-and-run driver

CLEVELAND – A retired Cleveland Police Officer helped detain an alleged hit-and-run driver until officers showed and took the man into custody.

Police on the scene at 101st Street between Madison Avenue and Detroit Avenue  tell Fox 8’s Allison Brown that the driver was going eastbound on I-90 when he struck a car, causing that car to spin out.

The driver of the car that was struck was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center, but her injuries are unknown.

A retired Cleveland officer witnessed the accident and followed the car off the freeway.

He was met by officers on 101st Street where the man was taken into police custody.
