SURF CITY, N.C.- Recent storms along the Atlantic coast are sending massive prehistoric shark teeth onto North Carolina beaches.

The huge teeth have been found from Surf City to North Topsail Beach in record numbers since the start of October, reports WECT in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Experts at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher told WECT some of the fossilized teeth belonged to Megalodons.

The Aurora Fossil Museum estimated that every inch of the tooth’s length equals 10 feet in length of the shark, meaning a 6-inch tooth belonged to a 60-foot-long Megalodon.
