CLEVELAND- The air just turned crisp, leaves are crunching on the ground and Christmas is 64 days away.

But at Great Lakes Brewing Company in Cleveland’s Ohio City neighborhood, the holiday season starts early.

On Wednesday, Santa Claus himself delivered the first keg of Great Lakes Christmas Ale to a crowd that waited eagerly outside. Steve Ormiston won the honor of receiving the pour through a poetry contest.

“That is really excellent beer. Nice and fresh today too,” Ormiston said, while enjoying a glass. He even shared his award-winning poem with the rest of the patrons.

Great Lakes Christmas Ale will be available in bottles and kegs at the brewery’s gift shop on Oct. 26.
