Police searching for driver who hit, killed 17-year-old in Lorain

LORAIN, Ohio -- Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle that hit and killed a 17-year-old in Lorain Monday night.

According to the Lorain Police Department, it happened at around 9 p.m. in the 300 block of West 23rd Street.

Police say Jayvian R. Johnson, 17, of Lorain, was walking in the roadway when he was hit by an unknown vehicle. The vehicle fled the scene, driving east on West 23rd Street.

Johnson was taken to the hospital, where he passed away Tuesday morning.

Witnesses describe the vehicle involved in the incident as silver.

Jayvian's family says he was set to graduate from high school in January and had just enlisted Monday to join the Army.

Anyone who may have seen the crash or who has any information on what may have happened is asked to call police at 440-204-2115.
