Suspect in Madison Country Club fire pleads guilty

MADISON, OH -  The man arrested in connection with an arson fire that destroyed a country club pled guilty to those charges.

Paul Forner, of Chardon, was arrested in May and charged with setting the fire that destroyed the Madison Country Club. On Tuesday, he pled guilty to attempted aggravated arson.

In the early-morning hours of March 12  the club, located on Chapel Road and is nearly 100 years old, was destroyed by flames. Forner was arrested two months later.

After the fire, at least a dozen brides were forced to look for a new reception hall for their weddings. 

Forner faces a prison sentence of 2 to 8 years and will be sentenced in November.
