Cavs lose to Memphis in Columbus preseason game

COLUMBUS – The Cavaliers played their third game of the preseason tonight, taking on the Memphis Grizzlies down in Columbus, Ohio.  The Wine and Gold rested Mo Williams and held out J.R. Smith who is battling a hamstring injury.

Memphis posted a 91-81 win, handing Cleveland its 3rd loss in as many games.  LeBron James led the Cavaliers with 14 points , while handing out 3 assists and amassing 3 steals on the night.    Jared Cunningham, making a strong push to make the roster, chipped in 13 points, while veteran Richard Jefferson canned 11, and James Jones, 10.

James played 25 minutes and will possibly sit out the game on Tuesday night against the Milwaukee Bucks at Quicken Loans Arena.

Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love have yet to play in the preseason.  Love is pretty close to getting the green light. Irving still has a ways to go before getting cleared to go all out.

Zach Randolph led the way for the Grizzlies, scoring 14 points.
