Cleveland police officer indicted for sexual relationship with 14-year-old girl

CLEVELAND – A Cleveland police officer has been indicted following an alleged relationship he had with a 14-year-old girl.

According to the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office, First District Elvin Sanchez was working part-time as a security officer at West Park Academy.

While working there, he began a relationship with a 14-year-old female student.

Officials say he touched her inappropriately and also exchanged illicit text messages that were sexual in nature.

Sanchez was indicted on one count of Gross Sexual Imposition, one count of Importuning, two counts of Sexual Imposition and one count of Possessing Criminal Tools.

The City of Cleveland said Sanchez is suspended without pay pending the outcome of the case.
