CLEVELAND - Police are investigating after the back window of a postal van shattered on 97th and Superior on Wednesday afternoon.

There were two postal carriers inside the van at the time. Nobody was injured.

Velma Lewis, who lives on East 96th Street where the window was shattered, heard something. “I heard something say ‘poomf’, like a ‘poomf’ sound, and the window shattering, and then it was a car that went around the corner, a black car went around the corner.” Lewis went on to say,  “I don’t see why something like this should happen; it’s really senseless. We mostly peaceful people over here,;we just sit on our porch and it’s quiet.”

Cleveland police are investigating whether the truck was shot at or if something else happened to cause the window to shatter.

On Tuesday, a school van also had a window shatter while driving on East 105th near Columbia Avenue. Police investigated and found no evidence that the van had been shot.
