Honoring Oregon shooting victims: Gov. Kasich orders flags flown at half-staff
COLUMBUS, Ohio– Governor John Kasich on Friday ordered that flags be flown at half-staff at all public buildings and grounds throughout Ohio from now until sunset Tuesday, Oct. 6.
It’s to honor the nine lives lost in the Umpqua Community College shooting in Roseburg, Oregon.
Gov. Kasich’s order reads:
“In honor of the lives lost in the senseless act of violence perpetrated on October 1, 2015 in Roseburg, Oregon, and in accordance with orders from the President of the United States of America, I hereby proclaim, by the authority vested in me as Governor of the State of Ohio by the Ohio Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, that the flags of the United States of America and the State of Ohio shall be flown at half-staff upon all public buildings and grounds throughout the state of Ohio effective immediately until sunset, Tuesday, October 6, 2015.”
