Three Cleveland Browns starters want Johnny Manziel at quarterback, report says
BEREA, Ohio- Three anonymous Cleveland Browns players want Johnny Manziel to start over Josh McCown, TMZ reported on Tuesday.
TMZ said it spoke with three offensive starters, who voiced support for the second-year quarterback.
“It’s frustrating to him and us when you sit a player down when he is playing well. Coach has got to understand you are messing up the chemistry and timing with players,” one player reportedly told TMZ.
“The team plays better when (Manziel) is in the game. I play better when he plays,” another said.
FOX 8 News reached out to the team for comment.
Manziel came into the season opener against the Jets for the injured McCown. They lost 31-10.
The former Heisman trophy winner got a lot of help in the team’s win against Tennessee from wide receiver Travis Benjamin, who caught two touchdown passes and returned a punt for a TD.
Under McCown, Cleveland lost to the Raiders, 27-20.
