MetroHealth released a statement Tuesday evening after learning that authorities had searched the home of former MetroHealth executive, Edward Hills, DDS. MetroHealth said it also learned law enforcement agents searched the offices of a business associated with Dr. Hills and two privately-owned dental clinics.

The┬ástatement from Daniel K. Lewis, Chief Operating Officer of The┬áMetroHealth System, went on to say that the businesses searched are not part of The MetroHealth System. Lewis said Dr. Hills is a former chief operating officer of The MetroHealth System and former chair of the Department of Oral Health, who resigned his position at MetroHealth in December 2014 as part of an “organizational restructuring.”

The statement went on to say:

“We cannot comment on an ongoing investigation except to say that this investigation began when MetroHealth alerted law enforcement to possible irregularities in the Department of Oral Health and Dentistry. Since then, we have cooperated fully with the investigation while being careful not to take any actions that could jeopardize the investigation.

MetroHealth absolutely does not tolerate any behavior that runs counter to the law, our policies or Code of Ethical Behavior. We will respond appropriately when the investigation is complete.”
