MARIETTA, Georgia – An 11-year-old boy is being praised after he acted quickly to save his newborn brother when his mom went into labor.

James Dukes was home with his mom, Kenyarda, when she went into labor early, according to CBS News.

“All of a sudden I couldn’t get to the bed anymore, so I just collapsed on the floor,” she said.

So with dad at work, James had to step in and do what he could to assist his mother.

“It didn’t really scare me,” he said. “It was more just like, let me clean the baby off, make sure he’s OK, make sure my mom’s OK.”

After baby Royal was born, he called 911 and the dispatcher walked him through keeping the baby safe and warm while first responders were on their way.

“He was my help, he was my guardian angel. He was the man, he was the doctor, he was my superhero,” Kenyarda said.

James has also changed his future plans too, he said instead of the NFL, he wants to become a doctor.
