AKRON, Ohio- E.J. Thomas Hall will continue presenting Broadway shows, thanks to a new partnership with Playhouse Square.

The Broadway series appeared to be in jeopardy after the University of Akron laid off employees of E.J. Thomas Hall in July. Then, the Theater League ended its relationship with the performing arts facility.

“Our intent always was to present the shows as scheduled and we are excited that our relationship with Playhouse Square will enable us to do that,” said Nathan J. Mortimer, vice president for finance and administration and chief financial officer at the University of Akron.

“We are most grateful to both the Akron Civic and to Playhouse Square for working with us to seamlessly deliver the four scheduled shows at E.J. Thomas Hall. We are excited the same shows will be presented on the same dates and times and at E.J. Thomas Hall as previously announced and that all season ticket purchases are honored.”

E.J Thomas Hall will show “The Producers” Nov. 3 and 4, “The Buddy Holly Story” Jan. 12 and 13, “Flashdance the Musical” March 8 and 9, and “42nd Street” May 10 and 11. Tickets for individual shows go on sale Set. 28 and are available at
