Sample smackdown: Shopper punched in fight over Nutella waffles

BURBANK, Calif.– A 78-year-old man was punched during a fight over Nutella waffle samples at Costco.

According to the Los Angeles Times, when the man went to reach for a waffle, a 24-year-old man, identified as Derrick Gharabighi, took all of the samples.

The 78-year-old told Gharabighi he shouldn’t take so many and that’s when Gharabighi punched him in the face, according to what police told the LA Times.

The elderly man suffered a one-inch cut and and swelling above his left eye.

Gharabighi was arrested and faces one count of elder abuse along with a special allegation that he inflicted great bodily harm on the elderly man. He faces up to 11 years in state prison, if convicted.
