Akron woman dies in one-car rollover crash on I-77

COPLEY TWP., Ohio -- One person died in a crash on Interstate 77 southbound in Copley early Tuesday.

The crash happened at about 4:40 a.m. on I-77 southbound south of state Route 21.

Sydney C. Hanlon, 21, of Akron, was driving a 2002 Ford Explorer south on I-77 when she drove off the left side of the road, overcorrected and drove off the right side of the road, then hit an embankment rolling over multiple times. She was ejected and then pinned under the vehicle.

Hanlon was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police do not believe alcohol or drug use were factors in the crash.

The scene has since been cleared.
