CLEVELAND - The FOX 8 I-TEAM has found when and where bullets are flying most often in Cleveland, one of the city’s biggest and most dangerous problems. We’ve analyzed calls for shots fired.

The problem has become so great, records for shots fired calls in Cleveland show an increase of 15%. Through mid-September, the total had soared above 5,000 calls.

These calls get made when people hear gunfire nearby, but they may not be sure why. This does not include calls when it’s clear someone was wounded or killed.

The I-TEAM found the number one address for shots fired calls is East 79th and Garden Valley. There have been nearly two-dozen calls there already this year. Another top ten address is West 83rd and Detroit. Back in June, police spent hours there after they say someone fired shots at them.

Records also show calls for shots fired come in most often between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m. The days with the most calls are Friday and Saturday.

We also noticed a trend. The number of calls for shots fired started going up as the weather got warmer.
