MAPLE HEIGHTS, Ohio – The Fox 8 I-Team has learned that Maple Heights Schools Superintendent Charles Keenan was arrested early Sunday morning on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

The 48-year-old was stopped by the Lisbon Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol as he was headed eastbound on SR 334 around 6:53 a.m.

The superintendent is expected to be in Columbiana Municipal Court Tuesday morning to face the charge.

Board members would not go on camera to discuss the situation but Board President Pamela Crews released the following statement:

“The Maple Heights Board of Education has recently become aware of an out of town incident which occurred over the weekend involving our superintendent, Dr. Charles Keenan.

The board is gathering information about the incident and will determine the Board`s response to this matter in the near future once all facts are known.”

Parents in the Maple Heights School District say they hope the board does a full investigation. “Yes, I am because as a superintendent he is someone that should be setting an example for children and if he gets away with it, they figure they could,” said Victoria Ballentine.
