LUMBERTON, Texas – One cheerleading squad’s performance is garnering national attention after they performed to sounds from the September 11 tragedy.

Since being posted on Facebook, it has been viewed more than 20 million times.

They performed to ‘God Bless the U.S.A.’ and audio from statements made by former President George W. Bush that day.

Coach Lauren Sheffield told Buzzfeed that the cheerleaders take the annual routine very seriously and have performed it since 2002 when she was a cheerleader.

“We do this because we believe it is very important to honor and remember the first responders, those who gave their lives, and those who still mourn the hole left by lost loved ones,” she said.

“The girls are very dedicated in all they do,” she said. “They take it very seriously, and know that being a cheerleader is more than just Friday Night Lights; It’s making a difference in the lives of our community.”
