Police investigating after woman drowns in Elyria pond

ELYRIA – Police are investigating the drowning of a 31-year-old woman Friday.

In a release, it said the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Carlisle Reservation Duck Ponds for a drowning.

When they arrived, witnesses said the woman seemed to be in distress. Two people attempted to locate her in the water, but were unable to find her.

A man was with the victim, but had left the area before police arrived. He was located shortly after by authorities.

The dive team was able to locate the woman’s body and she was transported to University Hospitals in Elyria where she was pronounced dead.

The investigation is ongoing.
