CLEVELAND– The FOX 8 I-Team has learned disciplinary hearings have been put off for the 13 officers who fired 137 shots killing two suspects after a long chase in 2012.

The city waited until criminal court proceedings had finished before filing administrative or internal charges. Hearings were to begin this week.

However, the police union president tells the I-Team, the union asked that all of the hearings be put on hold.

Union president Steve Loomis says the city handed over 13 discs and some packages 60 pages long it says contain evidence of police department rule violations, and the union says it needs more time to prepare defenses for the officers.

The hearings will be held before the city safety director. Discipline could go all the way to officers being fired.

No officers were convicted. Officer Michael Brelo was cleared of manslaughter charges in the deaths of Timothy Russell and Malissa Williams.
