Akron babysitter pleads guilty in death of 7-week-old baby

AKRON, Ohio- An Akron woman pleaded guilty to charges related to the death of a 7-week-old baby who was left in her care.

Laura Flores-Santillan, 50, pleaded guilty to reckless homicide and endangering children. Summit County Common Pleas Judge Thomas Teodosio will sentence her on Sept. 23.

On Sept. 4, 2014, Flores-Santillan, who was hired to watch the child, noticed the 7-week-old was unresponsive, according to the Summit County Prosecutor's Office.

Authorities said the baby suffered a traumatic brain injury while being shaken. The child was removed from life support four days later.
