It will soon be illegal to smoke in a vehicle that’s carrying anyone under the age of 18 in England and Wales.

The reports that the law starts Oct. 1 and is meant to protect young people from secondhand smoke.

If someone does smoke in the car, the driver and the smoker could face an up to $80 fine.

In the U.S., states like Virginia, Arkansas, Louisiana, California and Maine have similar laws.
