CLEVELAND - A Cleveland man has plead guilty for shooting and killing his 12-year-old stepdaughter.

And now the girl's mother is getting ready for the hardest thing she has ever done, face him in court and ask the judge to put him away for life.

Rufus Gray plead guilty Monday afternoon to several charges, including aggravated murder for killing his 12-year-old stepdaughter Davia Garth last October and trying to kill her mother Sonya Garth.

Garth says she was in the process of divorcing Gray, when he came storming into her home last October and started shooting.  She was shot four times.

She says Davia ran to her trying to protect her when she was shot.

She now wants to make sure Gray, who served prison time for a 1989 voluntary manslaughter charge, stays locked up for the rest of his life.

"Davia is not here, she cannot speak so I got to be her voice and I am going to do her justice," said Sonya Garth.  Justice will prevail."

Sonya Garth added she is in the process of starting a nonprofit organization to help other victims of domestic violence.
