Carnival cruise worker accused of sexually assaulting teen passenger

PORT CANAVERAL, Florida – A Carnival Cruise Lines employee was arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a teen passenger, according to NBC News.

Yovany Suazo-Batiz, 46, was a steward on the Carnival Valor and was arrested at the Port Canaveral port.

He has been charged with sexual battery of a person under 16 years of age and lewd and lascivious molestation, and he is currently being held on $95,000 bail.

The victim’s father and other passengers detained Suazo-Batiz after the victim reported what happened.

He told his father he was in the sauna and was followed into the shower area where the alleged abuse occurred.

The Carnival Valor reported the incident before arriving to port, where they were met by members of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.

Carnival Cruise Lines said Suazo-Batiz was cooperating with police and the FBI.
