AKRON, Ohio- The suspect of an Akron home invasion is dead after a shooting Friday afternoon.

Akron Police Captain Dan Zampelli said a man shot the suspect on Hilbish Avenue. That's not far from the Akron Fulton International Airport and Lockheed Martin.

"We have two scenes. We have the home where the robbery took place and then approximately two houses to the right as you're facing the home, the robbery home, is where the robbery suspect, the deceased, fell and died," Zampelli said.

There were three people in the house at the time, including the shooter.

Police arrested a former Summit County Sheriff's deputy, who showed up at the scene.  Police said he pushed past officers and crime scene tape. He was asked several times to leave, but refused. He was eventually tackled by officers and charged with misconduct at an emergency.

The second home invasion suspect is still on the run. Zampelli said they do not know if the suspects were armed.

There was a home invasion at the same house in 2012.
