Indians trade Nick Swisher, Michael Bourn to Atlanta Braves

Nick Swisher and Michael Bourn

CLEVELAND – Nick Swisher and Michael Bourn have both been traded to the Atlanta Braves for Chris Johnson.

The trade details include Swisher, Bourn and cash.

Swisher signed with the Indians in 2012 to a 4-year, $56 million dollar contract.

He has struggled with injuries this season, spending parts of the season on the disabled list.

Bourn previously played with the Braves from 2011-2012 and has been with the Indians since. In 2012, he signed a 4-year, $48 million dollar contract with the team.

Bourn also struggled throughout the season, he was dropped from the leadoff spot in the lineup for the first time in April.

Johnson has a career batting average of .280 with 57 home runs and 308 RBI across seven Major League seasons with Arizona and Atlanta.
