STREETSBORO, Ohio--  A man accused of taking money from a fundraiser held to benefit a Cleveland-based rocker, has been released from prison early.

Bill Thompson, former owner of Stringz and Wingz in Streetsboro,  was sentenced last September to three years in prison, but on August 3 a Portage County judge granted him an early release from prison.

Police and organizers of the event held for Sonny Geraci , a local music legend, said Thompson owes the Geraci family more than $20,000, which was raised during the November 2013 fundraiser.

As part of his probation, Thompson will have to make full restitution by paying back $500 a month.

The benefit was held for Geraci, who suffered an aneurysm about two years ago.  The benefit  was to help the Geraci family pay for mounting medical bills.

Family and friends of Geraci said despite what happened they are extremely grateful for the support of the community.
