SANDUSKY  РAccording to police, a guest at the Budget Host Inn came to the front desk and said a man in another room was attempting to lure her 12-year-old daughter and god-daughter into his room.

When police arrived, the hotel manager informed them that other guests had complained about the male guest, saying he was urinating outside of his room and wearing only a long coat.

One of the 12-year-old girls told police that James Karpinski, 72, had asked the girls to come into his room.

The girl then told police how the situation began. Karpinski had asked her if she wanted to make some money. When she said yes, he then asked her to come inside the room.

When police went to Karpinski’s room to hear his side of the story, he answered the door and was not wearing any clothing.

Karpinski was then arrested for disorderly conduct and a judge determined that he should be held without bond.

After returning to the police station, the prosecutor was contacted and advised that Karpinski should also be charged with two counts of attempted importuning and attempt to commit an offense.

Karpinski is currently being held in the Erie County Jail.
