Tragic ending to search for missing 4-year-old Sheffield Lake boy

SHEFFIELD LAKE, OH – Hundreds of police officers, FBI agents, the Coast Guard and volunteers took part the search for 4-year-old  Sidney Heidrick. He was found in the water near his grandparent’s home on Saturday.

He was last seen near his grandparents’ home in the  4800 block of Lake Road in Sheffield Lake around 4:30 p.m. Friday, according to Sheffield Lake police.

Sheffield Lake Police Chief Tony Campo says that Sidney vanished very near the area of his grandparents’ home.

Sidney’s grandfather tells Fox 8’s Brittany Harris that the child was last seen on surveillance video just after 4:30 p.m. yesterday walking down Lake Avenue towards Bay Village.

The chief says now that reports of Sidney heading west are not supported. He vanished so quickly from very near the area he was last seen. Police responded almost immediately and he was gone.

FBI is there to support the police. They are working with the family to gauge the most likely place Sidney may be.
