RICHFIELD, Ohio- A man who ran a wedding-planning business is under arrest and facing charges.

Cory Friedman, 31, of Twinsburg, operated Simply Elegant Weddings in Richfield, until the business closed suddenly in April, police said.

"The investigation was begun after multiple complaints were received from victims regarding Friedman accepting monies from clients for wedding and party services, but never providing the services," the Richfield Police Department said.

Friedman surrendered himself to police Tuesday morning and was booked into the Summit County Jail on one count of grand theft, with more charges coming, according to investigators.

According to the Simply Elegant Weddings' website, the business provides music, photography, videography and photobooths.

Anyone who was a victim of Simply Elegant Weddings should call Richfield's detective bureau.

Lt. Joe Davis said they’ve identified at least 10 victims, with losses easily in the $10,000 range so far.

After learning about the arrest of Fieldman, the wedding planners at Executive Caterers in Mayfield Heights announced Tuesday afternoon that they’d like to help out the clients of Simply Elegant Weddings.

A spokesperson said, “We are saddened by the news and should any victims need assistance with their event, please reach out to us at 440.449.0700 or info@executivecaterers.com.”
